Albion rail line noise

Ben has joined local residents in Keilor East in calling for sound barriers to be introduced along the Albion rail line.

Increasing numbers of freight and passenger trains are now operating along the Albion East line running day and night. Freight trains in particular are up to 80 carriages long and the vibration they create can be felt in homes close to the line.

Residents along Moyangle Drive, as well as visitors to the Moyangle Reserve Playground and Sustainability Street Community Garden, are only separated from the rail line by a badly damaged cyclone fence.

As local media reported, in June, Ben wrote to Transport Minister Terry Mulder, relaying residents’ concerns and calling for an investigation into constructing an appropriate sound barrier.
